Mercury control box

Someone who has a merc 850 thunderbolt is interested in purchasing my mercury control box. My box is about 3 years old. Would it work on his older merc outboard ?

As long as the cables are of the correct length for his needs, I see no reason that it would not be able to be made to work. He might have to change the motor harness to the style on the control wireing or wire it stright to the motor but it would or can be made to work.
