Hi, I have a 1997 25 hp merc with remote controls, I was out fishing today and when I went to move the throttle back to neutral it wouldn't go. I had to shut of the motor and pop off the cowling, I moved the shift lever full front to back a few times restarted and it worked fine.
10 mins later it did the same thing, this time I just turned it off and moved the lever back and forth and I heard a pop, one of the linkage arms popped off so the engine would not go into gear. I managed to get it back on and everything worked fine after that. What should I do about this ? it was a bit stressfull as I was blowing out to sea and already a few km's from shore. Thanks.
