I have read alot of the posts on link and sync on the tower o power. I want to set the timing like it says, but I do not see a timing mark, or a timing gauge on the flywheel to line it up with. I also wonder if a normal automotive timing light will work, or do I need a marine two stroke one. Any info on where to start would be great. My engine runs ok, but doesn't start well after its ran and sat for an hour. I put a used distributor on it cause the po screwd up the old one and I want to make sure it is set right. Thanks John

I would also like to know what kinda tach I will need. My old one wouldn't work on a 6 cyl do I need to find a new one.

Tachs normally work on most merc models. Your older motor probably has the tach wire connected to the switchbox. More modern tachs use the stator to drive them.
