I have a late 80's mercury 35 hp oil injected. Serial number is ob134050. Boat has run fine until last week. Went to the ramp and it was only firing on one cylinder. I checked the coils and they are good. So I bought a switch box hoping that would do the trick. It fired one time with a pink spark. And that was it. There are no bad spots in any of the wires. One guy says it could be the trigger and one guy says it could be the stator. I am not a mechanic and have very limited tools and funds. Can anybody second the stator or trigger? Or better yet give me some sort of idea in which way to go? Thanks in advance.

You need to test the electrical system with a dva adapter. This will tell you which part is bad.
