hey everyone. I have a quick question about the throttle arm on my mercury black max 200hp. I was just wondering what the three adjustment screws eack do.

1- the top one seems to adjust a lever that is under the flywheel.
2- the second one im not sure what it does but its in the middle part of the pivot area.
3- seems to adjust the throttle to open the butterfly valves on the carbs

What i want to do is adjust these perfectly so that the boat will idle. I seem to have it adjusted ok but i have to give it a little help when shift from neutral to forward. When i dont the boat goes way down in rpm and dies but when i shift back to neutral the go back up to between 700-900 rpm.

I just want to be sure what each adjustment screw is doing

thanks again matt

Re: Throttle arm adjustment?

Matt, I suggest a service manual. It sounds like you need it. The motor has adjustments for idle pickup timing, idle speed, max spark advance and throttle stop. These need to be set in a specific order, while using a timing light. A lot of V6 motors have a cold start function as well.
