In process of buying an 83 Ranger boat with an 86 mercury 175 hp. Took to lake ran it for fifteen or twenty minutes on and off. In that time over heating beeper was going off. Not far from dock motor died. I managed to get trailered with trolley motor, once out of water i pulled shell off motor to find head bolts laying in bottom. 7 of 24 head bolts actually came out as full bolts.
Any suggestions as to wat happened?
