Hi
I have a mercury 1987 mercury 4 hp 2stroke outboard.

It appears the bearings are a little noisy.
Is it fairly easy to replace that i can tackle myself or a trip to boat shop?
has anyone changed theirs without problems?

Thanks

What bearings? Lower unit or main crank?

Noise is coming from main crank. It sounds either the roller bearing or one of the ball bearings. It is slightly noisy.
Is it common for it to fail quickly on these engines ? My engine is 19 years old and has hardly been used. I am suspecting bearings are rusty rather than worn.
Is it easy to take apart replace bearings and put together with basic tools?
I was given this engine but no service manual.
