Hello all, I have a 4 stroke 2007 Mercury 25 horse EFI. I've never serviced or worked on the water pump. I've noticed this year that the water output valve or whatever you call it doesn't have a steady stream of water coming out of it. It goes off and on, yes it does get a steady stream of water from time to time. Keep in mind I'm running the engine for about 10 minutes or less. The water stream is sporadic, does the the water pump run on a thermostat? Some times when I launch the boat it starts pumping a steady stream immediately and other times not. On the older engines I've had, if I didn't get a steady water stream it was time to service the water pump. Don't know about these new engines. Or should I forget it and service the water pump anyway because of the age? I guess that's the direction I'm headed. Thanks to all for your help with this.
