mercury 115 hp stroke 80's model parts

I need to know what year and model mercury motors i can snatch a power head from to get my 115 running again

What year do you have? Normally all distributor ign power heads will interchange, with some exceptions. Ditto for ADI ignition powerheads.

not sure would it tell it on the serial number plate, I look up the serial # and could find the exact number, srry just new to outboards

and so youre saying that as long as it is a inline six cylinder like the broke one it will interchange?

The powerheads from 1979 1/2 to 1987 using the ADI ignition(2 packs) in the 115 and 140hp. Beware they made a 90hp that will fit also....

What year was the motor and what do you mean beware about the 90hp

I meant the 90hp will fit but be less hp, they look the same.

Oh ok i found a 1978 but it wont work, j/c whay cause ignition is diffrent?

There was some late 1978 140's that had the ADI ignition, if the 1978 has 2 switchboxes it will work you just will have to modify fuel pump.
