Mariner 15E identification

I am trying to identify a Mariner 15E with the serial number 684 CL 552464

I can't seem to find the correct info on it even though I have checked most all the sites referenced from a search of the old posts in this forum.

Pic below of the S/N - hope it helps

Whenever I think I have the right year I check Crowleys site and it doesn't agree.

Anyone have a good source for ID'ing these motors?

Engine serial number 684 CL 552464 is a 1983 MARINER, 15 EL Model number 7015523.

Thanks for the lookup!

When I plug that info into Crowley or Mercurypartsexpress it doesn't show a listing for a 15 hp in that year.

Are the parts just not available or possibly do we have the wrong year?

Where should I be looking for parts on this?

Now with that mentioned, your engine serial number shows your engine to be a 1981 engine year as your number falls within the serial number range shown in the chart below..... Your engine model from Mercury should also be 7015229.
Here would be a parts catalog for you as well,15C - ML-684-300101 AND UP

15 ML M = Manual Start L = Long Shaft 20 inches.

684-311326 - 684-314660

1981
