What motors will work with the controls from a Mercury 200hp 2.5L Xri

I have a bass boat that use to have a Mercury 200hp 2.5L Xri. That motor is now gone, but the controls are still on the boat and I want to replace the outboard. Will any Mercury outboard work with the existing controls or does it have to be an Xri outboard? What are my options?

Anything from about 1984 to 1998 will work
