1972 Mercury 20hp flywheel

Hey Guys - I'm working on a 72 mercury model 200. It is in mint condition except the wires rotted out of it. I am a Johnson/Evinrude guy, and had never heard of a flywheel that was 2 pieces, so of course when I pulled the flywheel off and set it down I was horrified when the hub fell out of it, and I didn't know to mark it ahead of time. Like I said, the engine is in mint conditio; it has less than 20 hours of run time, and has been stored indoors since new. This means that all of the paint and original decals are easily readable. Is there any procedure to find the proper allignment except the obvious guess and check all afternoon?
