1965 mercury 900 transmission change

can someone tell me the amount of oil to add to the transmission when empty and the correct procedure to fill it ----- i am waiting for the manual

17 ozs. I use the gear lube pump from Mercury, remove the lower fill screw and the upper vent screw - fill it from the lower hole until lube flows out of vent hole then, while tube is still in, replace the upper (vent) screw then the lower one.
