Howdy! I am hoping someone can help me. I've never replaced these types of cables before and am trying to figure out how. I've read the book I have, but there is no clear wording that tells me whether I have to remove these two little (and I mean LITTLE) pins that hold on each of the little barrels on each of the cables (please see the picture I attached). On top of all this, there's hardly any room to get to the ends of the cable with the lower cowling (cowling?) in the way. Can someone possibly please assist me with some guidance on how I can do this the right way?

If you look at where you have the circle and move towards the bolt, you will see a spring (underneath the cable) and then a lever. You lift the lever up until you can push it towards the circle and then you pull the barrel off the pin.

See items 20/21 and 22 in this link:

Do not remove the pin, it is actually the lock when engaged.

Thanks, Gerry! That's awesome. I sure was hoping there was an easier way. And thanks for that link to the diagram too! I was looking for one of those earlier and couldn't seem to find the right one.

I had a little time this morning before work to mess with the cables a little bit, and getting the barrels off are a piece of cake now, thanks to Gerry. However, now I am having trouble getting to the ends of the cables to disconnect them. The cowling comes up the side of the engine too high to get to what looks like a phillips head screw that holds a retainer in place that would allow me to get the cable ends off. Is there another way to get these off? Please see pictures. It's kind of hard to see, even in the pictures though.

OK, I think I may have gotten the idea. I guess that's a latch that just swings out of the way?

If you look at the same parts link in the previous post, you will see items 11/12 and 13.

Item 12 lifts up off of the pin on item 13 and slides to unlock the cable end.
