I have a 99 30hp mercury outboard and I've been having issues when i try to start it after its been sitting for days. I have a large deep cycle battery (size of car battery) and a lawnmower battery which was brand new last year. i also have a jumpstart pack from west marine. I tried starting the motor yesterday, i turned the key and nothing. it wasn't in gear and i cleaned the connections with sandpaper and tightened them. i tried using each battery alone and then with the jumpack and nothing. it ran fine just the other day after i had cleaned up the connections. when i tried to hook up my little minn kota battery charger literally as soon as i hooked up the batteries it said charge complete. any ideas? we bought this motor last year after it had been sitting for 90% of its life so it has very low hours.
