I have a 2003 40hp mercury sea pro with a 2:1 gear ratio and my friend has a 2004 55hp mercury sea pro with a 1.64 gear ratio! Our props are interchangable and from what i can find, so are the prop shafts. I was wondering if i could put a set of 1.64 gears into mine! The reason being is that i run a 17 pitch prop now on my class c runabout and i need a 18 pitch and they are very limited. with the 1.64 gears it would bring me back to the 14 - 15 pitch props and i would have way more selection!!
