Hi,

I have a 1987 bayliner capri, which used to be hooked up to a 1987 3 cylinder 85hp force with a manufacturer supplied tachometer - Does anyone know if this tach will work with the merc and how to wire it it up?

Thanks

It will hook up to either the Grey terminal on the switch box or one side of the rectifier (from the charge coil). On the back of the tach there should be a switch for the number of poles on the charge coil. I think it is 10 on the 115 but not sure and not anywhere the book.

That motor will get it's tach signal from either of the yellow rectifier wires. You should see the brown wire connected to one of them. If the tach is a universal one, it should work with the Merc. Set it to 6C or 12P, whoichever you have.
