Got this boat as a repo, with not a manual in sight. I downloaded a file on these motors and they only show one flush port. This one has 2.....Which (or both) do I use? Ye....she is a little salty at this time.

its the one on the port side here is mercurys how to:

NOTE: The outboard can be tilted or in the vertical operating
position during flushing.
1. With the engine turned off, place the outboard in either the
operating position (vertical) or in a tilted position.
2. Disconnect the flush connector from fitting on the bottom cowl.
28726
3. Thread a water hose into the flush fitting.
28727
4. Turn on the water tap (1/2 maximum) and let the water flush
through the cooling system for about 15 minutes.
5. When flushing is complete, turn off water and disconnect the
water hose.
6. Reinstall the flushing connector to the fitting on the bottom
cowl. Tighten the connector securely.

Also i have a set of manuals you might be interested in. email me

You should also flush via muffs to clean out lower unit/pump etc with motor running.Pretty sure they use specially made muffs (nose cone) for this model. It sure beats a cold bath for power head only.

very true the muffs are better. you do use the same muffs you use for everything else but you will need a lower water pick up cover. you can buy one from your dealer pretty much a rubber cup that is on a nylon stap with a buckle in it that helps prevent the water pump from sucking air threw the lower pick ups.

I found a manual online that describe this method, Brandon, but no mention of the aft flush port the dealer told me to use.

I think muffs are out of the question. She stays in the water.....saltwater that is.

I think at this point I will use both.

Thanks for your imput.:D
