I posted the other day that my gear shift was out of line, In forward all the time. What is the easy way to line it up without a lot of hits and misses. Its a 60 hp mercury big foot 1999 0g763684 out board. I think I have the answer by putting both in neutral and then sliding it on. hope it works.
Thanks
Bob

Re: Gear shift out of sink

Bob;

Your engine is a model:

1060452VN MERCURY 1999 60

Parts listing:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/3371.cfm

Service Manual P/N: 90-852572R02

http://1manual.com/Mercury manuals/Service Manual PDFs/TwoStroke/852572r1/cover.pdf

You must have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to use this manual. If you scroll down to the lower part of the opening page, you will see the various engine components in red. Click on the one you want and when the first page opens, click on the "Save As" icon at the top LH corner of the page and you can save it to your computer.

See Section 6C 60 Bigfoot, page 6C-34 for installation instructions and yes, you should be OK with both in Neutral.
