Merc 50HP year ID Please

G'day

Could someone please tell me what year my Mercury is ? I've opened up the sticky and checked out the 4 links/charts and have had no luck.

My serial number is 8001049 A or 800t049 A.

Its a 50HP 2 stroke 4 Cylinder, E-start w/pull start aswell. Its the type where the cowling pulls apart into 3 bits - top lid, sides and front.

It has a faded 500 or 50D sticker on the cowling.

Call mercury at (920) 929-5893 and select option 2 and they will tell you immediately



When in doubt, check it out

Your s/n, beginning with the number 8 identifies it as an Australian Mercury built engine and you are probably going to have to contact Mercury Australia:

"looks like" an early blueband, been painted?
first series bluebands were roughly '72-'75
l have an 801 xxxx serial number and that is '72, l think
pic is a bit hard to "read"

the mercury name on yours 'slopes' to the right like the first blueband, different to the redband in the guide
