Connecting remote throttle and shifter to 25hp Mercury

I bought a boat that came with a Mercury 25hp 2-stroke motor (OD263427). The motor was "thrown in" and even though it runs, it was never used on this boat. The motor is strictly remote as there is no tiller or shift handle. The motor has no controller but I am about to purchase a Quicksilver controller. Before I spend any money, I'd like to find out if the motor is complete. I'm not familiar with Mercury motors and I can seem to figure out where the throttle and shift cables connect to the motor. My other motors have tillers and shift handles that the cables to. Does anyone have a photo of the inside of a remote motor? I can take a picture of mine and post it if that would help. Thanks.

I found this Remote Attaching Kit ( 95722A1 )but don't know if my motor is actually a 1993 model based on the serial number. Can anyone confirm the year and whether this is the correct kit?

Yes, it comes up as a 1993:

25 25/ 25 SeaPro 2-cyl 0D182000 0D277999 1993 USA

From here:

http://www.marinshopen.se/Motorer/O...Mercury2takt2cyl1825hp/tabid/483/Default.aspx

It is a model:

1025312ND MERCURY 1993 25

Parts listing:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/367.cfm

This is the notation on the cable adapter sites concerning the kit number:

>"Adapts 33C and 43C supreme for use with Mercury outboards 40-300HP. Use this
and Mercury #42805A1 for 1986 and later for Mercury outboards 6, 8, and 9.9HP.
Use kit and Mercury #42805A4 of US origin for Mariner outboards 6, 8 and 9.9HP.
Use kit and Mercury # 95722A1 for 1983 and earlier for Mercury outboards of 18,
20 and 25HP. Use kit and Mercury #95722A3 for Mercury outboards of 18, 20 and 25
HP for 1984 and later."

Thank Gerry. I never saw the note. That really helps.

I have a 1993 Mercury 25hp (OD266465) tiller control that I want to convert to console controls. The local Merc dealer told me the kit only goes back to 1994 models. I'm not sure that's right. Does any one have any ideas or expierence converting this model Mercury? Thanks in advance!

Re: Connecting remote throttle and shifter to 25hp Mercury

HI Billy,

I contacted SEAWAY Marine in Seattle. Jody helped me find the parts required to convert mine to a remote. In the end, I didn't need the parts, but he accepted them as a return. Very good CS. I know nothing about my motor. Do you have much information about them?
