I have an '84 or '85 Merc 60 Triple 2 Stroke, Runs great 95% of the time. Sometimes, at cruise or WOT, the engine appears to die for a second or two, then "catches" itself and continues on it's merry way as if nothing had happened. This happened yesterday maybe 6 times in an hour long run. The instances of stalling are clustered together, usually. I watched the tach yesterday, and during a cruise at about 3500 rpm, the neeedle dropped to about 2000 during one of these episodes and then quickly climbed back to the 3500 range. Nothing I do with the throttle seems to have any effect good or bad during one of these stall sessions. I don't even know where to start looking for the gremlin. What about any of you Merc Wizards out there?
