I recently purchased a boat with a 9.9 Mariner that I believe is a 1988. The motor is very clean and starts on the first pull almost all of the time. My issue is that it is when I give it throttle it is no power. The first time I took it out it was very intermittent and would run great and then just kick down again. I just took it out for about an hour and it ran at full power for less than 5 mins. I checked and it has spark to both spark plugs. I'm wondering if it could be weak spark or maybe a gummed up carb??!?! I wouldn't think it was the carb since it starts so easy and runs so good. I do need to change the spark plugs but I doubt that is causing it since it is intermittent. I am ordering the manual for it but wanted to know if anybody has any suggestions to check right away.. thanks!!
