Hi - I've got a 2007 Merc 150 EFI on my SeaPro 186DC. The remote oil tank is under the steering column. I am having problems with the oil leaking into the storage area in a bad way but I cannot figure out where the oil is leaking from. I have wrapped the tank itself in garbage bags and so I don't think it's coming from there, but I can't find anywhere along the line itself that it's leaking. I can't reproduce the leaking while sitting still. Do you have any pointers on this for me to figure out?

Re: Oil leak near remote oil tank

Chances are the tank has a crack in it somewhere. It will only show up when the engine is running because it is under pressure at that point. I had a hairline crack in mine that I couldn't see until I took it out from under my console and ran the engine. It showed up as a tiny crack on the rounded corner. Couldn't hardly see it with the naked eye but I could hear the hiss. Otherwise you'll need to inspect the hoses very closely but a worn spot bad enough to leak should be pretty evident.
