This is my first time servicing a motor myself. I want to change the impeller and change the lower unit oil. The motor is a 2005 Mercury 115 hp ELPTO and it says saltwater on the side not sure if that matters. Which impeller kit do I need to purchase and what type of lower unit oil do I use? Thanks for your help I searched on here and went on a few parts sites and couldn't quite figure it out.

On a side not I read that you are supposed to use some sort of silicone sealer when putting the lower unit back on to seal off the exhaust from the water. Any one know what type of silicone sealer to use and if this is necessary? thanks

1B18717? I can't read the last digit in the photo I took of it. I have looked on the parts charts on a few websites but using that serial number I keep ending up at some sort of mercury jet drive engine? thanks gerry for your help

S/ns 1B187170 thru 1B187179 are model:

1115412DY MERCURY 2005 115

Parts listing:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/11212.cfm

Service Manual P/N: 90-830234R04

http://1manual.com/Mercury manuals/Service Manual PDFs/TwoStroke/830234r3/cover.pdf

You must have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to use this manual. If you scroll down to the lower part of the opening page, you will see the various engine components in red. Click on the one you want and when the first page opens, click on the "Save As" icon at the top LH corner of the page and you can save it to your computer.

If you look under Gear Housing(Driveshaft)(2.07:1 Gear Ratio)
in the parts listing, you should find everything you need.
