 FINALLY got a little more time to work on buddy's basket case boat L.O.L. been having fun with r/r of LU to finally get the hang of it .
with the shift issues it started out starting in gear , and no"PEE", so dropped LU to change impeller. put on and off multible tines to get shift correct to find out the previous owner had installed cables backwards, not to overlook the lock out cam wa missing.
havent touched since, a few weeks now.
back on it today and dropped LU to check control to motor shifting and had to adjust cable to gat shifter properlyset on slider. got it all working then put LU back on, set shifter in FORWARD, put LU in forward, all seemed to be right .motor was tilted up.
Now here is where it gets interesting, With control in forward, prop locked ccw, ratching cw, i lower the motor down as if in water, the prop now spins freely as if in neutral, tilt it back up it locked ccw.

any one ever come across this

had LU off multiple times,, and can comferm F,N, R reverse lock cam working in N/R. with motor tilted up and work control handle, all works like it should, but when tilted down control in F prop spins freely. lock out cam working in neutral and reverse, cause motor wont tilt up unless in forward.

HAVENT had time to get back on but thinking ? Could itt possibly be doing this due to play in the prop shaft assembly. (in-out play) since the prop is correct when engine is tilted up (due to gravity pulling prop against gear)and not when lowered, how much play should there be?
The reverse lock is functining correctly in both possitions.
