2006 ,,90 mer,,starts up but wont stay running

i choke it ,,,it starts ,,runs for about 5 second then stalls ,,,if i choke it befor it stalls it keeps running again for another 5 sec. ,,i tryed reving the eng and it revs up as high as i want but only again runs for 5 sec ,,or till i choke it again ..this motor only has a bout 10 hrs on it ,,,HELP

how long has it been sitting, sounds like carbs need cleaning.

i ran it once last year ...twice the year be fore

i would clean carbs, i am having to clean mine for same reason. my boat is running but has to be idled up. so it isnt getting right amount of fuel.

Have you checked to condition of your primer bulb? They get old and cracked and even if they pump up tight they still loose pressure pretty quickly. I had that same problem with my 1989 90hp merc and I would pump it up tight, start my motor and then run back or have someone else pump it while it's still running and it would run for a bit longer. Replaced it with a new one and problem gone. I'd only had it for a couple years but got it at walmart so it problably wasn't the best quality.
