35 Merc missing jaws?

My outboard rises when put in reverse.

I did a search and i read a post that the motor locks onto the trim adjustment bar.

I dont know if im missing this or what.

SO... you want us to tell you if it's missing?
...if you're willing to pay for gas food and lodging....I suppose I could drive down there to Southeast Texas from NY and take a look....

It would probaly be cheaper to take a picture and post it so we could see?

The reverse lock is activated by a cam on the shift linkage in the top of the lower unit, very common to find it's not aligned correctly. theres a push rod that is pushed up by the cam. The push rod is connected to the "claw" that grabs the trim bar.
Tip your motor UP all the way and look at the transom clamp/upper part of the lower unit where it opens up when you tip the motor up, thats where the "claws" should be..

I forgot to upload the pic. Then i lost it due to my sister washing my phone.

She put my pants in the washer.

I"ll get another pic taken after school tommorow.

I laughed as i read your post. I was like "whats this guy talkin about" then i looked and realized.
