Hi.
I have a 1978 Merc 90 2 stroke.
I just replaced the rectifier on it, and now it won't engage the starter. I suspect the wire to the neutral disconnect switch might be flakey, or the starter solenoid might be on the fritz. I manually jumped the starter from the battery and it turns. I have pulled apart the Mercontrols and tested the switch itself, and it's closed when in neutral, and open when not. I had someone turn the ignition for me with the harness disconnected and expected to see voltage between pins B (neutral start interlock) and D (ground) but did not.
When I turn the key to start, I hear a solenoid click in under the dashboard, but nothing happening in the motor. Is there a way I can temporarily bypass the neutral switch at the solenoid in te motor to verify that's the problem?
Appreciate any assistance anyone can provide!
Thanks,
Richard.
