I have an oil leak in the bottom end of my O/B
Please see photos.
I have drained the oil!

What part do I need?
I think I need an O ring that goes over the back end of the bering housing?
How do I get to it?
As you can see from the photos I have the prop off and the screws losened on the bering housing.
Do I need a puller? What else do I need?

Thanks in advance

Harry

Check the lowerend oil. see if it milky.
That looks like unburnt gas/ oil, does it smell like gas?

Thanks for the reply

After daining the oil there was a very very little vein of milky looking drizzel.
Most of the oil was as expected.

The thing that got me going on this was after the last trip out I parked the boat and I had a bit of a drip. I was just a couple of days and maybe a tablespoon worth of black gunk you see on my finger in the photo.

Now that last trip I did use the motor at an idle for several hours (trolling). Could the accumulation of oil be because of that?

That's normal, it's just unburnt fuel/oil. I think the 1999 is still a 2+2 engine so at idle up to 1800 RPM it only runs on 2 cylinders. A small amount of fuel still goes to the other 2 cylinders to keep them lubricated.
