86 Merc 115.. 2 bolts?

There are 2 bolts on the front of my 115 Merc 6 cylinder..

One between carb 1 and 2 and one between carb 2 and 3. I noticed one was loose and the flange/keeper was locked down.. I tightend it back up. The shop who did the rebuild must not have put the flanged keeper down..

Should i have any concerns about it being loose?

Labeled as "SCREW, CENTER MAIN BEARING LOCKING"

As long as it was still in place and just loose....no.

It was in but not by much.. It threaded back in fine.. if it was out would it not go back in all the way?

what's the concern if it was out?

Anyone else have info on if i should be concerned with running this motor?

The bolt did go back in with no problems and it wasnt ran for long, i had the hood off 2 day's ago after i ran it.. ran it for less than a hr like this yesterday.. got home and saw it was loose.

If you re tightened these bolts and they did not seem stripped then you should be fine. They put lock tight around the entire base of the intake manifold along with a seal on the intake that if the seal has not been broken loose should be fine. I can,t see 2 bolts mid section of the intake letting this seal be broken.

just spoke with the mechanic who rebuilt it, he said to snug it back up and bend the tab down and i'll be good to go.

They just help support the main bearing block on crankshaft..they have nothing to do with sealing.
