Hi there,

A good friend of mine is looking at Baja with a 1993 Black Max 150 HP outboard. Just the regular version, no oil injection. He has the mechanical history and everything checks out in the regard, dealer maintained since day one.

Just wondering how people feel about these engines? Do they tend to be reliable? Are they easy to maintain if you are a DIY?

Any input is appreciated.

Regards,
Russ

The Baja is in mint condition, based on the mechanical records there shouldn't be any wear and tear issues. Of course with an older engine you need to be diligent. So he is now talking about buying the boat and putting an E-tec on it.

Old school power and Feel VS High Tech and Smart

The guy is stuck on getting a Baja and this is the boat....

No engine is any better than the guy that takes care of it.

With that said, there are a great # of guys that would willingly cut off their left one to have that motor. Personally, I'd rather cut off my right one, it's been a source of pain since I hurt my back in '98.

Where do I come pick it up?

Yeah if he buys a new motor he definitely won't have trouble getting rid of it.
