i am having trouble with a mercury 200 hp outboard motor. it is an old motor between 1978-1989 but has been restored. today we took it out for another test run and it seemed to be starving for fuel then we noticed the carbs were cold and sweating...what causes this and how can i try to fix it?

Re: mercury 200 hp carburetor sweating

Totally normal wth warm and humid temps. The air/fuel velocity flowing thru the carb venturi is sped up and cools the intake and carbs when engine is runing. Since the outside air is warmer, condensation forms on intake and carb bodies, just like a glass of ice water set out in the sun.The only fix for sweating is cooler weather but doubt that causing your problem. You posted a big year difference as their are a lot of differences between a 1978 engine and a 1989. Post your serial # to get correct year....
