Mercury lower unit swap ! Help please

Will a mercury 50hp 1973 lower unit fit a 1977 mercury 70hp motor? From looking at parts list they look like the same lower units and have the same part numbers. Thanks in advance for your help.

You might need to give them more than an hour...........sad state of affairs here I know.Some folks I think might out in their boats or something this time of the year.I sure hope someone answers soon.Ron G
