My '78 1400 has a 9 amp stator...it has the two yellow wires with the red srtipe...How do you test these stators? Should i have continuity between either of the yellow wires to ground, or continuity to the frame of the stator? When i check ohms between the two yellow wires i get a reading of .3 on my digital meter...both yellow wires have continuity to ground...what is the correct readings?

These are the wires that feed your rectifier. .3 is close enough but you should get no reading from the wires to ground. They must be disconnected when testing.

I did have the 2 yellow stator wires disconnected from the connector block on the engine...just the installed stator with the wires hanging free and they both have continuity to ground...SO they should not have continuity to ground at all...??
