mercury key switch

I dont know which wires go where. The back of the ignition has 6 terminals the harness has 7 wires. The wires are yellow, red, grey, brown, white, orange, black. The terminals are labeled with the letters I, M, B, AM, S, and C Could someone please help me.

Around what year are we talking about? I just took apart mine on a '75 402. I took a few pics but have not yet removed the wires to help you with locations. I'll reply again when I get them off.

The boat is an 89 tracker pontoon. The motor is a 79 mecury 115 im not sure if the key switch is original. Thank you for any help

There is not a single number on the key switch

That would be the ser# of the engine.

This might be what you are looking for. Use the serial # on your engine to verify you are using the correct one, as you can see, they change often.
