Ok so I recently purchased a 1988 Sea Nymph Great Lakes Special as a project boat. It came with a 1988 Mariner 90hp 3 cylinder engine. When the boat was advertised it said it needed a new starter. Well, after messing with it I changed the battery out with a newer one and it spun the starter and fired up. Starts easy at the house and idles pretty good for a 23 year old engine. when I took it to the lake Saturday it busted off and I idled off the trailer. But, when I went to open her up it acted like it had a bad hangover. No power. It sounded pretty sick. It didn't miss and sputter it just ran up to about 1800 rpm at WOT. I am assuming the carbs and I will change the fuel filter. It didn't blow black smoke like it was flooding. Any insight or suggestions would be most helpful.
