135hp Mercury Outboard will not turn over

I am trying to start a motor I just picked up. It doesn't do anything when I turn over the ignition, but when I release the ignition from the start position, then it slightly turns. What do you think is the problem?

Also, what year is the outboard? 2 cycle, right?

Bad ignition switch.

If you're going to try to repair things, get a mercury service manual as your initial investment.

Also, learn to be real clear about what you're doing. I have to assume that by "turning over the ignition" you mean twisting the key.
