Mercury 500 Choke Question

I'm currently restoring a boat that has a Merc 500 Outboard but im just learning bout it. When you push the choke button and then the choke solenoid engages, does the solenoid disengage upon start or do I have to press the switch again to disengage it?

I believe that it is an electronic actuator that is hooked to a monetary contact circut. so pushing the button again will only activate it again as it releases when the button is released.

ok, so the choke will only stay engaged as long as i hold the button? makes sense.
