1994 mercury XR6 150hp takes a long time to re-start after being on plan

1994 merc XR6 150hp. Starts up right away when I get to the lake. I will then run to my fishing spot and stop and after 20 min it does not what to start. it sounds like it is not getting any fuel. When I do get it started I get a lot of white smoke. I can small gas while trying to start it. After getting it started it does not idle will. I have to give a little gas to keep it running. after that it runs fine in tell I stop again.
What I have done so far:
1. replaced fuel filter and fuel lines.
2. all spark plugs look good.
3. foud a crack in fuel line from choke to carb and replaced it.
I was thinking it maybe getting flooded after I stop the motor. Last time out it would not start and when I got it back on trail and lowered the motor gas come out of exhaust.

White Smoke?? When you checked plugs were any of them squeaky clean?If so you may have water intrusion in cylinder/s.Mine also hard to start after a run due to flooding.
