Need help wiring battery 1989 35 hp Mercury.

I recently purchased a 1989 35 hp Mercury outboard. Everything was hooked up except the battery cables. I have no idea which terminals on the motor are the correct ones. Any help would be appreciated.

Good afternoon. I have the same exact motor, actually I have two of them... Do you have a Ohm meter or a way to check continuity??? I'm attaching a picture of my motor, the the cowling off, and put one of the meter leads on the top "red" wire of the solenoid. And the other lead "Black" on on the end of one of the two battery cables that your questioning. The top wire of the solenoid "Red" goes to the positive terminal of the battery.
