Hello everyone!

I have a 1965 merc 6 hp motor! It isn't running so hot (but it DOES run :))
When I throttle up all the way I can see fuel mist coming out of the air horn on the carburetor! Isn't this indicative of bad reed valves???? If so how do I change them and can I even get ahold of them new?????? I don't see a reed valve assembly... the carb seems to bolt strait to the front cover of the crank shaft.....

Also.... When I ran the engine I did not have the prop on the motor. It always seemed to me that the Merc props suck the exhaust out. Will it run better with the prop on as opposed to without it at all?????

Thanx for any help you can offer!

Yes, Nino, that could be from delayed closing of the reeds, allowing crankcase pressure to blow back through the carb. If that is the case, new reeds would probably solve it.
