I need help
My buddy put in water pump now its stuck in gear.
How do I fix it. its a 50 hp mercury 500 1970's

You have to drop the lower put it in N and same on shift lever and reinstall making sure the water tube gets inserted into the pump housing.

How do you put it in neutral once you take the bottom off.Sorry but I'm a new at this.

I have the same issue with a 1978 800 (80hp). How do you change the gear on the lower unit? I also only have one gear changing shaft, not an upper and lower like the Seloc manual I have says, so no direct ability to change gears there. My prop does spin only clockwise in Forward, Neutral and Reverse (from the shift controller at the helm).
