I have a 1975 1150 in line 6 that I noticed was spitting water from the right exhaust hole on the back of the engine when I fired it up this spring. It takes a few seconds for it to start peeing and then it starts spitting from the exhaust. I don't remember it doing this in prior years. Is this normal or is there another problem developing?

Perfectly normal. THose two ports are the exhaust relief ports. When at idle/slow speed, the exhaust is not drawn out thru the prop as would normally happen at higher speeds so there needs to be a place for the exhaust to exit the motor. Since the exhaust gases are cooled with cooling water, it is normal for water to exit along with the exhaust gases.
