I just purchased a 2002 Anger 180F with a 2004 Mercury EXLPTO 115hp 2 Stroke on it. I noticed when I turn the key to the ON position I do not hear the alarm test "BEEP" go off. I was concerned about this so I replaced the alarm, but it still does not sound. I grounded the tan/blue wire that comes from the engine overheat sensor to test the circuit and then I could hear the alarm. That gave me piece of mind knowing that at least the alarm will go off if I overheat, but why is it not doing the test beep? My 1997 ELPTO used to do this as well as my fathers 2007 150hp EFI. Was this option removed in the 2004 EXLPTO?

You did not post what horsepower your motor is, or if it's a two or fourstroke. It it's a 75 to 115 fourstoke carb motor, there is no test horn. If it is a 75 to 115 carb two stroke, there is no test horn. By shorting the warning circuit to ground and hearing the horn, you have verified that the system is operational. Post h.p. and two or four stroke, and carb or EFI motor for us.

Sorry about that. Yes...its a 115hp 2 stroke. And, thank you for the answer.
