I have a '98 Mercury outboard 150 HP V6 with carbs. Lately the motor has been hesitant on take off. It starts fine and idles great. It even accelerates perfect on gear while off the water. Once in the water, it losses power at take off and sometimes it takes a while for it to accelarate properly. I keep going back and forward on the throttle until it responds and takes off. No issues after it takes off. What could be causing this to happen????

I'd guess a "sync and link" is in order. Check the fuel system.

I did not see any accelerator pumps on those carbs, so that isn't the problem.

Have you adjusted the carbs? If not, it is likely necessary to clean them up and readjust the idle mixture.

OK. Thanks. I'll have a local mechanic shop work on the carbs.
