1985 mercury 115 inline 6 water pressure gauge

ok trying to figure out if the water pressure gauge in my boat is installed right and it is just bad or if its installed wrong.....it connects to the block i think between the # 3 and # 4 cylinders... is that correct or do i need to plug that hole and connect it at some point in the hose from the top of the head which is the pee tube?? thanks to anyone who can help

you are correct...and the hose is an 1/8" id. if im not mistaken...make sure it is not resricted..i know where you can get a good deal on NOS vintage "square face" gauge...they were used in the '70's and they called them "square faced" because of the design on the inside...

A inline 6 the most water pressure you will see at idle is 1-2 psi and about 6-9 at WOT. The guage needs to be a 0-15 psi as a 0-30psi will have trouble giving a reading...

will it read the same when running it on the water hose as it would in the water....i never had a chance to check it yet i will try tomorrow if i knock off work early enough...but i will only be able to run it on the water hose for now just wondering if it would show lower psi

Doubt if the gauge will read at all when running on muffs.

lol oh ok thats probably the problem then...im not familiar with these motors much...thanks guess i will have to launch it to know for sure
