This is a follow up post I had earlier about the neutral safety switch. I am looking at the manual and the switch is on the shift bracket in the motor. I can not find a replacement looking on line. Can anyone tell me the part number or what the description of the switch is? Thanks.

Re: Shift Bracket on 2002 115 Mercury EFI

you really need to quit thread bouncing.
yes the 2002 merc 115 4 stroke is a yamaha painted black.
yes if you keep messing with it it can and WILL detonate pistons.
the switch you keep refering to is NOT a safty switch and WONT affect running above about 1500 RPM.
it basically tells the ECU if the engine is in gear or not.
when was the last time the VST filter was cleaned?
its a tiny screen about the size of your little toenail that ALL the fuel the engine burns MUST pass through.

Re: Shift Bracket on 2002 115 Mercury EFI

Thanks for your reply. I realize this switch has nothing to do with my engin running bad, it was just something i found while working on the engine. I have only had the boat for about 9 months, so it is new to me. I am in the process of checking the things you guys are suggesting. Thanks again for the help

I forgot to mention that I checked the switch with a multimeter and did not get a continuity reading with or without the switch depressed.
