Hello,

I have a 1999 Mercury Optimax 225 DFI

I had put a new crank shaft in a used power head. After putting everything back together motor worked perfect. On the test run planed fine then lost power. made it back to boat ramp. Got it home and top belt broke into a million pieces. After getting a new one and cleaning up the pieces motor is now slow to get up to top speed. I took off intake and cleaned everything out. I replaced all filters. Gas air etc. Somethings it planes ok and others not at all. top speed is only 41 mph. Before it was 59 mph with a 200 hp Mercury optimax DFI 1999
Could it be air line blocked? bad gas?

105 PSI a cross the board on cylinders

Motor is on a 1979 Wellcraft CC V-20

Can any one help??

A failing air compressor will cause bogging, bust belts, stop up the bleed lines with debris and cause upper and center main failures..

So should I take apart air compresser to see if that is problem? I have a spare power head for a 1999 200 hp Mercury Optimax I have been taking parts from. Head is blown. Ran great until oil ran dry. Should I take air compressor off that one?
