My 75hp is not registering speed anymore on the speedometer. I have taken the tubing off at the lower unit (actually just separated it from a junction) and blown into the tubing and watch the dash speedometer, it moves so i think that path is ok.

So my question is the part that goes into the lower unit, where does it go to? What or how should I check to see where the actual problem is. Is it common for the meters to go bad...or is it the part that is in the lower unit area that is bad

look on the front edge of the lower unit, you should be able to see a small hole this is where the pick up tube connects. take a very small drill bit (1/16 or 1/32 ) and by hand you can clean out the wood or debre ( do not use a power drill). This hole stops up often, leaves, sticks ect in the water. hope this helps.
